thesis studies

so ive been working on some new paintings, drawings and music ideas.
the themes im exploring are: drugs, mental illness and spirituality.
im finding it hard to find a word or even a thematic sentence to describe these three things...
the best ive come up with is: "EPIPHANY" the chosen definition being:

"3 a (1) : a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something (2) : an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking (3) : an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure b : a revealing scene or moment" -source: http://m-w.com

ive read The Doors of Perception & Heaven and Hell by Aldous Huxley, and ive read The Mission of Art by Alex Grey...yet i still feel there is more to this drug-psychosis-spirit triangle.

films like A Scanner Darkly, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Brick, and Alice in Wonderland offer me alot of space to let my visual imagination wander.

Works by Salvador Dali, patbisson, alex grey, camille rose garcia and images of anatomy all inspire the direction of the overall visual look.

the music of tool, lauryn hill, deftones, nirvana, daft punk, cat power and dj shadow inspire the possibilities for music production

i will have to browse some library bookshelves and art online to really get a grasp on the theme.

any words of wisdom or directions i should explore would be greatly appreciated :)
